A School for Khartima

The community of Khartima celebrating the new school

Year: 2011-2012

Location: Khartima South Sudan

Project Overview: We partnered with the small Community of Khartima in Eastern Equatoria state, South Sudan to construct a classroom block for the local primary school. The project was undertaken with local volunteer labor, with technical assistance, and funding for the imported building materials provided by Yokefellows. The community provided all the locally available resources like stone and sand, as well as the labor to make bricks and build the building. Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks CSEB were used in the construction of the building. The blocks were made using a manual earth block press.
